Introduction to Bead Embroidery with
Sue Henry

Bead embroidery is the stitching of beads to a fabric or felt-like backing. While the basic stitches are relatively simple, the results can be spectacular. This technique allows you to easily incorporate found objects, cabochons, and other components into your work with beautiful and totally unique results.

In this project we will learn how to capture a beautiful Laborite cabochon with a seed bead bezel to a firm fabric base.  Then we will use several embroidery stitches to frame and embellish the stone.   Additional details can be added such as fringe.  Once done we will line the piece with an attractive leather or ultra-suede backing and bead embroider the edge.  Also in class we will discuss the materials used and best practices used in this technique.
Some experience with bead-weaving would be an asset but not required.
Kit Fee ($15) includes:
•      Laborite cabochon
•      Assorted seed beads, fire polish beads, glass pearls, and crystal beads
•      Base and backing materials
•      Thread and needles
•      Instructions
