In this class you will learn to make a Neckline Clip that features the beautiful flowing lines and depth of form, of my fan-fold technique. Both the folds and the vivid color of the final effect, remind me of Shibori ribbon, which is now very popular with jewelry makers (If you're interested, take a look here). This piece you will create can be worn both clipped to the neckline of your clothing, as well as strung on cording as a pendant.
I will guide you step by step through this project. We begin by creating the fan-fold component in your chosen color. Mica powders will be used to create a strikingly lustrous color and surface effect. You can optionally incorporate an additional color to your fan (similar effect to what you see in the Shibori ribbons). You can also add a lovely finishing touch of edging in gold or silver. We then add a focal point as well as create a custom clip - a bail-like structure from polymer clay. You will learn ways to support your component during curing to create even more appealing curves to this form. I will have many other examples of jewelry I've made featuring the fan-fold technique to highlight the versatility and design possibilities of this technique.
